I ride a bike because it is fun. As my bikes have improved and multiplied, I have realised that it is more fun on a better bike. I don't get excited by the idea of going in races and proving that I can ride faster than somebody else - although I did enjoy the Werribee 12-hour race in 2003. And not only because we won our class. In general though, I'd rather just explore interesting places, and challenge myself in the process.
When I went on a good mountain bike ride, I used to post a report on the MTB-OZ email list so that other people can try it. I've become slack lately, so most of these are pretty old.
Most of the rides listed below included some tracks of dubious legality. Many included tracks that are downright illegal. Don't ride them. That's an order.
